PAOTD.
negevrockcity: For non-New York readers, the Not-for-Nothin’ belt also extends into Staten Island, southern Brooklyn, Nassau County, northern Westchester and all of Rockland. Aka The Cop Belt. katiebakes: (A tip for those unfamiliar with the argot of the Garden State: The phrase “Not for nothing” is the New Jersey equivalent of “Shalom.” It means “hello,” “goodbye,” “peace,” “are you fuckin’...

I Salute The Onion's New Red Chinese Overlords.
negevrockcity: As you may or may not know, The Onion was recently purchased by a firm named Yu Wan Mei Amalgamated Salvage Fisheries and Polymer Injection Group. They profess to have strong links with Beijing bureaucrats and have thoroughly overhauled the satirical newspaper’s content. I’m beginning to appreciate the paper’s new approach: Area Man Uninterested in Creating A Better Community...

Otakon a success!
Great time, great costumes, some good finds both in the dealers’ hall (thanks to the ladies at Onmyodo for a second round of matchless footwear – and I normally hate shoe-shopping) and in the artists’ alley (thanks also to Jess at Scuttlebutt for the cosplay encouragement and for the Natsu badges!) … We have some Flickr reorganizing to do, but stay tuned for pictures!

negevrockcity: Check out the cojones on this kid: “An ‘enterprising and creative’ 17-year-old with Asperger syndrome convinced British aviation officials that he was launching a new airline. Posing as a visionary global entrepreneur — his email .sig files read ‘American Global Group, 35 Countries, 22 Languages, One Team’ — he used phony websites and human engineering to arrange meetings with...

Hah! I remember reading the post mentioned at the outset of this article, and the comments, and thinking, “these people [the commenters] are idiots! Even the smart ones are being dumb. Why do I read the comments on anything, anyway?” I guess maybe it’s a way of patting myself on the back… really, really hard.

"i wish cars had last.fm accounts."
(via bbones) Oh man, tell me about it! Since emigrating from the land of public transit last spring, I’ve been quietly lamenting this loss to my last.fm-ability. Not only do I drive a car now, but it only has AM-FM-cassette capabilities, which means several boxes have been unpacked – and several thrift stores’ dollar tape racks pillaged – for their magnetic analog treasures. Off the...
